Navionics Boating sur Android [Update]

How the new with the old ? Navionics knows ! After publishing geographic areas including a navigation application, now here is an application, but without mapping. Trop fort ces italiens !

Navionics Boating complements, January 2014, the collection of applications Marine (smartphone) and Marine HD (tablets). Also available as standard version for smartphones and tablets to HD (7″ and +), Navionics Boating door version number 3.0.0 AWhen other with the number 2.9.8. Accurate Navionics, on page dedicated its website, that Navionics "Boating" does not replace Navionics "Marine" will continue to be maintained. However, it is permissible to ask for how long, because this new application provided a very bad surprise.

If you purchased Navionics HD Europe, for example, do not count your cards recover, you need to re-buy new cards specific to this new application.

Avec « Boating », Navionics aligns its competitors with a free application to acquire multiple geographies, which is much more convenient than having to close an application and open another when the road crosses two zones map. It is therefore a good thing.

Browsers Channel will be happy to see England's south coast and Channel Islands with map "Central & West Europe », but offshore islands, Canaries, Madeira, Azores, are absent. A truncated Gold 46XG, sort of, but 50 € la zone, it is necessary to 100 € to cover the equivalent of Gold 46XG (70$ about 52 € on site x-traverse.com). There really is something confuse customers !

Navionics therefore proposes to install a new application to use multiple cards continuously. May be an excellent method to boost sales that essouflent ? If only the publisher had the opportunity to add, finally, the options available on iOS (NavModule, Autorouting, or Lost Cards (¹)) it would have been acceptable. Mais non, yet !

Nothing is ever, and it would be good not to turn a million copies sold all media, claimed by Navionics last year, into a million unhappy customers. Because I predict that the "Marine" and "Marine HD" applications do not benefit from a long life.

(¹) Update : The optional Lost Cards (Advanced Map) was added with the version 3.1 of 20 February.

  1. Hello,
I am planning a tour of the British Isles (Ireland – scotland).
I have an old panasonic CF 29 cured with cpn remains open on the chart table I was considering buying a portable GPS duplicate but a comparative article Sails Magazine calls the smartphone.
I understand that the iPhone is the first choice, However, I find the price too high, Furthermore it is not waterproof and I would opt for the well Crosscall Element which has a screen of 4.5″. To make it simple, is there a program that is compatible with CROSCALL covering the navigation area.
The goal is simply to see the boat evolve a reliable map, or dispose of the AIS in the mist (si possible)
NB : If possible, avoid the esoteric language of insiders which I unfortunately do not belong

    1. As I mentioned in a previous post, il y a, to this day, real poverty navigation application on Android. There is little that Navionics that can meet your need. Mapping for the British Isles is quality, but the application is more than basic. It is always the equivalent of Navionivs Viewer appeared at the beginning of the iPhone 2008.

  2. Hello,

    1. You make a confusion : iNavX is an application running under iOS (iPad/iPhone). The Android app is Navionics Boating, which allows you to buy two cards, one for Western Europe and one for the Atlantic islands (Canaries/Madère/Açores). These two cards are continuously linked together.
