In a few days the new application for Virtual Regatta will be released eSail4VR. Jointly developed by Henri Laurent (SailGrib) and Olivier Bouyssou (Weather4D), currently in intensive beta testing, the application will be available for the mythical race : the Route du Rhum. The real revolution is that it works on all platforms !
Cross-platform
eSail4VR runs natively under :
- Android (V.6.0 and +)
- iOS/iPadOS (iOS 13 and +)
- macOS (OS 10.14 and +, OS 11 and +)
- Windows (10 and +, ARM)
In addition, the application is synchronized in real time on all devices : a routing performed on an Android smartphone will be immediately visible on the PC, and vice versa, this regardless of the device. We dreamed of it, they did it !
Just like SailGrib VR and Weather4VR, the application can be used in a free basic version with limited functions but which will still allow users to test it. A subscription of 3 month renewable will allow access to all advanced functions after a one-week free trial.

What's next? ?
The icing on the cake is that eSail4VR is only the first phase of the future navigation application, for which Henri and Olivier created a joint company SOFT4SAIL. All resources will be shared : GRIB file servers, images satellites, mapping, etc.. The application will integrate the best of each development, and more. But unlike the version for Virtual Regatta, current navigation apps from both developers will still be available on Stores, kept operational, subject to corrections essential to the evolution of operating systems.
However, this is a complex development, with four hands, which will take many more months before landing on our devices. So be patient…

I just installed the free version on W10.
the application closes intentionally.
The Windy background is nice but referring to the target by name is not very practical. The principle of Sailgrib seems simpler to me

For me , eSail4VR is an extremely simple router, fast and effective. Sorry but I no longer use Sailgrib to route because with eSail4VR my racing results are much better ! A huge time saver when you want to route several races to follow. Thank you.
